I used to think anything on t.v. was okay. But then, I grew up. It was
once so taboo to even show a pregnant woman on television, or say the
word. You did not hear a lot of cursing and love scenes were, well, left to
the imagination. Now, you don't need an imagination... it is all provided
for you!

I am really not liking how it is going. There are too many children seeing
things best not seen. Men kissing men; sex scenes; extreme violence.... No
wonder they don't know tright from wrong. It would do us best to have
better values in seeing that our next generations are not immune to the
insanity.

I for one, would love to see the stuff like Lassie and Leave It To Beaver
back on. I do love the new detective shows tho. Gotta love finding out how
forensics can identify the lies. And the talent shows... American Idol,
America's Got Talent, Project Runway, Design Star...they all show off good
things. And the home building and decor shows... that brings something to
our kids to learn from.

I hear a lot of "if you don't want your kids to see things, turn it off". Well,
easier said than done. They go to friends houses, they see stuff on the
internet as well. What they are not allowed to see at home, they
will see
somewhere else.

So, what is the solution to that? I guess you would have to imprison them in
your home and never let them out! Somehow, I do not see that happening.
So, the best responsible thing is to do is hold the stations responsible for
what they allow out... I guess.

I am suspecting that many who detest, protest, and verbally abuse the true meaning of censoring
television either do not have young children, do not care where things are going, or simply do not
have all the necessary facts.

It is plausable to have action and drama that is effective for viewing without having your face,
graphic vulgarity. Sex scenes should leave something to the imagination and violence should be
more implied that visualized in front of our children. More and more I see a state of confusion in
their young minds rather than knowledge. As adults, we can comprehend the meaning of what may
be taking place in a situation -- that does not need to be explicit in the eyes of young children who
are now trying to mimick what they see on television. Freedom of speech, Freedom of the press... all
of that is wonderful, but with all that FREEDOM comes severe consequences. As a world of adults,
we are responsible for keeping some things in check to make this a safer place for our children.
Promoting graphic sex and violence is not the way to do that.

I see in commercials now where drugs are promoted, yet, on the street promoting them will get you
locked up. I see where a former president is pushing "penis enhancements"... Really, this is going
too far. Our children are getting heavy doses of mixed messages by society and then we expect them
to KNOW what is right and what is wrong -- can someone PLEASE, explain WHY not censoring is
the right thing to do? I agree, children should see things, but it is up to adults to limit their viewing
access when it will effect their learning process. We all have freedoms, they should be used with
caution and deliberation... not fly-by fansies with words thrown around like raindrops falling from
the sky.

Do you have an opinion? Do tell...
Television; America's favorite getaway.
